[Ariyah – Elysium – Cargo Section – BoL – A]
Ariyah blinked at Jackson’s welcome. This was the first time someone had mentioned her Sire in conversation, and Ariyah realised she never thought about how she’ll talk about him.
She smiled to cover her short lapse in concentration, “Thank you for the welcome. My Sire… isn’t really in the picture anymore.”
She realised how it sounded and added, “Not that he abandoned me or anything like that. He’s just not around anymore.”
Ariyah decided to not dwell on that any more than necessary, especially not in Elysium.
She was impressed to hear the other Kindred’s occupation. “The news industry. That’s very a very handy area to be in these nights.”
“The world is a pretty messed up place right now, and humans can be just as violent as any Kindred. I guess it’s entirely possible that some of the news being circulated is completely non-Kindred related. Or at least, we can hope that to be the case.”
Otherwise, some Kindred is going to get a pretty severe letter from the Prince. Ariyah thought.
Ariyah leaned an elbow against the bar, and rested her head against her fingertips, subconsciously mirroring Jackson’s actions, “And I’m afraid I’m a curious soul. I might not want to take part in anything risky, but I can’t help but want to watch the show.”
She raises an eyebrow at Jackson as she asks, “What about you? You’re in the industry, are you also curious? A searcher of truths? Or do you like the power of being able to create the narrative?”
