[Ariyah – Elysium – Cargo Section – BoL – A]
Ariyah tried not to think about all the time and effort her sire took to educate her as she politely accepted the compliments the other two Kindred paid her for her “self-taught” etiquette.
“Yes, I have heard that abandonment has become more prevalent as of late. Although it could be due to the harsh punishment dealt when un-sanctioned Embraces are caught.” Ariyah let a wry smile touch her lips, “I can only guess that my Embrace was a mistake made in a moment of passion, and regretted, just as quickly.”
She accepted Edith’s card with solemnity, especially after she’d read the handwritten note. Getting the promise of assistance, even if there’s a price, from someone of the Nosferatu’s age was beyond what she’d expected.
“Thank you, Ms Edie. This is most generous.”
As the two Ancillae revisited old memories, Ariyah saved Perkins’ number to her phone before folding the note and slipping it into the phone case.
Putting the phone down, Ariyah rested her elbows on the tabletop as she listened to the other two talks about the past. She didn’t interrupt; sometimes you learn the most interesting tidbits from other’s memories of foreign courts.
When Edith mentioned William being older than even herself, Ariyah looked at the man with new eyes. Sometimes she still forgets that physical age does not represent actual years experienced when you are a Kindred.
